Theale & Tilehurst vs Reading University Academic Staff 6th September 2003

The first of the post season friendlies saw us at Reading University.  On a good looking pitch there were no concerns at being put in to bat and when El Presidente and Jimmy Hill had taken the score to 94-1 at the 20 over mark a big total looked likely.  However, the introduction of the tall and pacy Dave Law and the mystery spin of Prashant saw a sudden fall of wickets as 94-1 became 108-5 in the space of four overs. It was left to James and Osman to restore the situation as they put on 90 for the sixth wicket, T&T eventually declaring on 212-8. The RUASCC innings also got off to a good start before Dersh Patel edged Osman to 2nd slip for another of AJ's fantastic no hands catches.  Bob soon had a further couple of wickets and with 20 overs to go RUASCC were 57-3.  Despite trying a range of bowlers though T&T never threatened to bowl the opposition out and the game ended as a draw.
