After a morning when there had been a doubt about whether we'd be able to play at all T&T won an important toss and had no hesitation in putting Hawley in to bat on a wet pitch.

Jamil and Chris opened the bowling and as well as keeping the scoring rate down each took an early wicket. Hawley's main batsman is Graham Freakes and he started playing some aggressive shots before he became Os' second wicket, a good catch by Mike above his head at long off.

At 72-4 Delaney did his best to hold the innings together but with Freakes gone the threat of a large total had disappeared. Mo worked his way through the middle order before Jamil came back to pick up the final wicket.

There was always a concern that the weather could come along and prevent us getting the runs. James and Jamil both went early playing attacking shots and at 12-2 Hawley must have thought they had a chance. This was taken away from them by Phil (scoring his fifth consecutive league fifty) and Micky who put on an excellent partnership of 98, initially steadying the innings and then at an increasing rate as the weather appeared to be closing in again.

A valuable 30 points on a day when some other teams may not have been able to play brought to an end to the first half of the season where we have put ourselves in contention for promotion.
