When we play badly we all seem to do it on the same day, we were distinctly second best in all aspects of the game.

Having been put in to bat Stratfield got off to a flying start through Headford and Clarke. It was not until the slower bowlers came on that wickets fell with both the openers out to catches in the deep. There were other early chances, albeit difficult ones, and Jason Dance was on the lucky end of one of these. After that he batted very sensibly and guided the Stratfield innings all the way through to 226-6.

On a slow pitch and on a ground with some short boundaries this wasn't out of reach. At 73-1 after 12 overs of our reply things looked to be okay and it looked like it could be a close game. However, after the dismissal of Phil things started to subside and then subside rapidly. In the end the second highest score was Gloves' 14 not out and the second highest partnership the one for the final wicket.

Whilst this defeat doesn't end our promotion hopes it does mean that we have no further room for slip ups and the games against Peppard and Purley take on even greater significance as we are the ones likely to be playing catch up.
