With this third defeat on the trot any remaining hopes we had of promotion have probably disappeared. In the absence of James, Crofty and Andy from the top six our hope had to be to field first, put some pressure on them in the field and then hopefully chase a lowish total. That didn't last long as a plan once the toss had been lost and we had been put in.

Further disaster soon followed when Phil was adjudged lbw in the second over of the innings for five. Jamil and Mike threatened to get the innings going with a third wicket partnership of 49 but when they went in quick succession there was an element of damage limitation about the rest of the innings, of getting to a score that would give us a chance. At tea 172-9 didn't seem too bad a score if we could take early wickets and get some pressure on in the field.

That didn't last long as a plan as Brock and Townsin put on 88 for the first wicket, there was a glimmer of a chance when the second wicket followed soon afterwards but that was soon extinguished when Brock and Paul Vines saw Peppard home at an increasing rate.
