Our season of two halves continues - in the first game of the season our batsmen had put a large total on the board to lead us to victory, this time around we were unable to chase a relatively small total albeit in the face of some very good bowling.

On a wet pitch T&T won what appeared to be an important toss. Mo bowled Dave Downes early but then Kemp and Johnson had a partnership of 64 for the second week, this proved to be the decisive partnership of the match. At 111-3 Waltham looked on course for a high score but it was the bowling of Andy that appeared to turn the match in favour of T&T, his changes of pace and variations were well suited to the pitch and he went on to return figures of 6-30. These are the best figures by a T&T bowler in the 1st XI.

T&T would have settled for bowling Waltham out for 141 but arguably Waltham would have settled for it as well; at tea both teams had a chance. The bowling of Andy Huntley turned the game back in Waltham's favour in the spell immediately after tea as he reduced T&T to 28-4. Bowling a good length and getting both swing and seam movement he proved to be a handful all the way through his 17 over spell and was well backed up by Dave Downes and Andy Jackson.

Of the top order only Mike threatened to take T&T to the total scoring 30 and Phil Mead battled hard but at 88-9 it seemed like the game was over. However, Mo had other ideas and his 42 was typically hard hit. For a short while it looked like the final pairing might achieve the impossible but in the end Waltham took the final wicket with 17 runs to spare.
