In a hastily re-arranged fixture T&T visited Berkshire County Sports for the first of the post league season friendlies. On what was one of the warmest days of the season and the pressure of the league season gone both teams seemed keen to bat first, assuming the roller that had broken down on the edge of the square could be moved off the pitch.

Pete Drain won the toss so BCS batted first. What followed was some of the dullest cricket people could remember, by the time the first lot of drinks came out at the end of the fifteenth over the score had only progressed to 100-4. Osman had taken three wickets in his opening spell with the new ball, including one to a very fine stumping by Phil stood up to the stumps. However, runs had flowed around this particularly from Shahid Saddiq who was finally dismissed for 49.

When Jamil bowled Blackwood first ball it seemed the game was going to hasten to a conclusion. However, no-ball had been called and after a further couple of wickets had fallen it was in conjunction with Pete Drain that Blackman steadied the innings and took the score to 150. When Blackman was finally legitimately dismissed the innings did hasten to its end. Osman came back and took the final wicket which took him to 200 wickets for T&T, the sixth bowler to achieve this feat.

T&T needed 167 to win and had 49 overs to get them – there wasn’t much money on a draw at tea. Andy and Eddie opened the batting and Eddie went early on, the first of three catches for Joe Dixon the best of which was a fine diving forward effort to dismiss Jamil. Meady came in at three and showed that the league season is well and truly over by scoring some runs as he, along with Andy and Jamil, all got in but then with jug evasion seemingly very much in mind got out.

It was left to Legside Lenny, who has taken to getting off the mark with a six recently, and John to see the game home with 12 overs to spare for a comfortable 6 wicket victory.
