Report by Chef

Well Skipper  is no longer a useless tosser, he won the toss, so is now a complete tosser.  He elected to bowl first and what a good decision that turned out to be.

Prior to the game Meady donned some sun cream.  In fact not so much donned as doused.  Chef opened against Goodchild and his 3rd ball slipped out of his hand went miles in the air and miles down leg side.  Thanks Meady, those runs should go down to your bowling.  At the beginning of the 2nd over Chef said to skipper all I need is 3 balls at Goodchild.  Sadly it turned out to be 2.  A couple of overs later Os struck with Ian taking a fantastic one handed diving catch at gully. A few overs later and Os struck again, then Chef took the wicket of Ansari who looked a useful left hander.  A few overs later and Chef took another two wickets, then another his next over.  With 15 overs gone, they were 41 for 8.

Two "experienced" guys came to the wicket and Chef and Os were rubbing their hands but suddenly they lost the ability to bowl.  They had a solid defence and put away the bad balls that we were obliged to bowl.  This got more frustrating and so we bowled worse.  Micky came on for 3 overs of tight bowling (some say he should have stayed on a bit longer).  Os changed ends and bowled through, still not being able to make a break through.

Rog came on to bowl after Micky.  Now Rog doesn't have the strongest arm in the club but I have never seen anyone throw their toys out the pram as far as Rog did.  He was turned down for 3 LBW appeals and subsequently threw a flurry of abuse at the umpire.  The umpire claiming that Rog had moved him forward and that he couldn't see his hand at delivery and therefore couldn't give any LBW's.  Strange answer but probably not worthy of the abuse that followed.

Anyway it was finally Chilly who got the breakthrough with Brew being stumped by Tim.  Chef came on to bowl next over and with his first ball got Booth caught behind.  We finally bowled them out for 121 and Chef picked up 7 wickets and Osman picked up his 50th catch for the club.

After an interesting tea, basically the ingredients were there with plain bread, you then had to make it yourself.  Being a Chef this came naturally to me but still unusual.

After Tea Ruislip kept the old ball and opened with spin.  The first over was a maiden.  Rog then took a swing at his 3rd ball, spooned it into the air and was caught, even though the catcher collided with another fielder and ended up lay on top of him.  Micky and Eddie then steadied the ship but Eddie also ran out of patience and was bowled having a swing.  Cameron then joined Micky and the two of them kept the scoreboard ticking.

There was change of bowling and Brew had an interesting over.  First ball was a high full toss that Micky top edged for 4 runs and a no ball.  The second Micky pulled for 4, the third he drove for 4, the fourth also went for 4 but some how Brew pulled out an absolute pearler which cut back and took Micky's off stump.  Meady then came out to bat and played a few good strokes but it was Chilly to go next.  This brought to the crease Ed. and Phil promptly left.  Os didn't trouble the scorer and Chef hit a boundary with his first and not much else after that.  It was then left to the sensible heads of Ed and Tim to bring home the 17 runs required.

We made tough work of it but managed to get 29 points.  Hopefully this will get us back on a winning streak.
