Presidents XI vs Chairmans XI 11th July 2005

There was a big turn out for the game after the Kwick cricket competition for the Youth membership earlier. It might have been due to that, or the amount of bacon sani's that were available. It was noticeable how many of the Chairman's XI were at the Kwick cricket and how many of the Presidents weren't. Perhaps the overdose on bacon sani's could have contributed to the result.

The President, having lost last year, was up for some revenge this year. Having won the toss he elected to bat. This seemed to bring out the best in Jimmy, having got 145 the week before, he went about destroying the T&T bowling. He was joined by Dennis who was caught on 21, which turned out to be the only useful contribution he made to the Presidents XI.

Jamil was finally stumped to Fingers, as was Chilly. Rags then took on the role of club pro and as a true pro promptly cross batted everything to the leg side. Nehal however played all round the park and sometimes out of it. In the last over scoring 11 off the last ball. The game was yesterday and I've already forgotten who the bowler was, so I won't bother going on about it, suffice as to say 5 wides and a six.

Rog and Mickey opened, Rog taking on the role of pinch hitter. Unfortunately nobody told him and he went out and batted sensibly. They put on a good partnership of 79 until both were dismissed by Jimmy. Cat then joined Meady and the two were progressing well. Unfortunately Cat was out by a good caught and bowled by Chilly but Meady continued well. Unfortunately a tight spell from Nehal stopped the run acceleration that was required after the good start. Fatigue set in and the boundaries dried up (by some negative captaincy if you ask me). Mo cam out to bat and there was still a little hope but unfortunately he was left with too much to do too late.

The Presidents XI won, so it's one each to Phil and Eddie.
