This was a new fixture as we took on Cat's old boys of Reading Lawyers. They won the toss and put us in to bat as I guess teams tend to when you don't really know the strength of the opposition.

Eddie and Rog opened up and Rog was initially the more fluent. Eddie had been keen to play in this fixture as he knew some of the opposition and he survived a chance at slip when one of the people he knew shelled the chance, the only thing was it was the batsman thinking it was one of the most expensive dropped catches he had ever had.

Fifty was posted for the first wicket but then Rog and Eddie went in quick succession followed by Jamil in this important cup final match (that last bit is only in there for if Mrs Jamil reads the match report). The main partnership of the innings was between Rags and James making yet another return following his problematic hamstring.

With them both at the crease it looked like we might score in excess on 220-230 but both were out to relatively soft dismissals. As it was with them both gone the score only just made it past 200 with Matt playing possibly the best shot of the day when he drove Frost Jnr through extra cover for four first ball.

The opinion that we might be 20-30 light was strengthened when at the start of the last twenty overs they needed 120 with seven wickets in hand. However, Trev and Fingers were chipping away at the Reading Lawyers batting order and there was still the trump card to be played.

With Trev having bowled a tidy spell he was replaced by Jamil. It's fair to say that Jamil just had a bit too much pace for the Reading Lawyers' lower order and mopped up the tail in relatively short order. Having been in contention at twenty overs remaining the game ended with seven overs to spare and a win for T&T by 86 runs.
