Theale & Tilehurst 2nd XI vs MWE 5th May 2007

Well not a typical pitch or typical weather for the first league game of the season. Meady didn't have a great start as he lost the toss. This lead to us being put into bat. With Rog retired rubbish, I mean injured, the opening was left to Eddie & Agyz. Now it has to be said that Aygz hasn't batted with Eddie before and Aygz call for a quick single was only gonna have one of two results. Aygz was actually run out by 16 as opposed to the whole 22.

Meady came and went, (sorry skip, it wasn't very memorable so no write up) and then it was left to Nehal to have the most unusual field of the day. MWE opted to move the slip cordon to third man, leaving three 3rd Men.

Everybody continued to chip in but no one went on to make a big score or a big partnership. We ended up on 207 for 7.

To pull off the double Paul opened the bowling with Rags (after Paul had prepared the Tea as well). We started with the old ball but it wasn't until the new ball was taken that we made the breakthru. Cumner, whilst not the most graceful of innings batted through and with cameo's from Bob and Steve, saw them home with 3 overs to go.

Disappointing start it's a marathon not a sprint.
