Meady won the toss again and elected to bowl. It wasn't a great start with 12 off the first over and some pretty poor bowling followed (particularly from me). Chamberlain was first to go with a great ball from Chris, just nicking the outside edge. Shortly after Draper skied one and with a swift turn of pace Chef took a simple catch over his head.
Ram then came on and took two wickets, followed by a great spell from Micky and Chris. After their lightning start BCS were struggling to score runs and losing wickets regularly. We were looking at chasing a total of 120 on a decent pitch. Unfortunately the rain hit in the 41st over. We had tea but it continued to down pour and that was the end of their innings.
At Tea there was a little disagreement between the Colt & Micky. The Colt was convinced he had 7 Maidens but Micky was intent that it was 5. Worryingly it was the Colt that explained that the W's were wicket Maidens to Micky, who seemed completely oblivious to the rules of scoring. Seems like Micky needs plenty of practice for the rest of the season?
We finally came back out chasing 101 off 33 overs. The pitch was very wet and standing at the crease was hard and front foot shots had to be cautious. The bowlers did well to stay upright too.
Nehal had to leave early, so the finisher opened. Eddie was first to go, followed by a Duck from Micky (taking some of the heat off my poor bowling earlier). Nehal and Meady set to work repairing the innings until Nehal was bowled on 17. Andy then joined in and put on a 50 partnership with Meady before being given out LBW extravagantly by Rog. Hammad then followed soon after. Ram was run out when he slipped in the middle of the wicket having been sent back by Meady, who was batting with him last time Ram was run out. Chef and Meady then put on a 16 partneship and looked to be closing the game off when Chef was caught by a good catch from Bennett. Chris followed shortly afterwards being stumped trying to swim his way back into his crease. Meady and Pawan then saw out the winning draw.
We were in a great position before the rain set in and even after the rain we should have won but after all that work, we'll settle for a winning draw.
