Theale & Tilehurst friendly XI vs Shinfield friendly XI

With the season in full swing t and t had the challenge of Shinfeild ahead. After winning the toss Den decided to have a bat

Osborn senior and Osborn junior were summoned to open the batting and after 4 balls when Osborn senior was out it looked like it would be a long day. But captain for the day den came to join the crease with Osborn jr and with in a few overs they both looked at home. They pushed the score on very nicely with Osborn jr passing his 50 soon to be followed by den once harry was dismissed on 71 there was a great platform set for the lower order batsmen to have a swing, den was finally retired hurt on 82 odd ??? there was 6 overs for a swing big tim ( tk max ) hit 15 and barry stroud hit 22 once these 2 were dismissed big al joined the crease after batting at 7 he felt he had a point to prove and went about it by getting clean bowled 1ST BALL =) and this gave us a final total of 250-9

If it wasn’t banter at its best after al getting out 1st ball it would get better. Trevor opened the bowling with aman and bowled nicely. aman dismissed their opening batsman for 15 or so clean bowled and once aman was taken out the attack stuart brown came on to bowl and took his first ever 5 wicket haul so a big well done to him but with in this 5 for tim k took a very good catch running over his head as did scott stroud with big al taking a okish catch running backwards and to be fair all 22 players on the pitch would have lost their morgage on alan catching that once they were 8 down something possessed den to let big al to have a bowl. After scaring the life out their 8 year old batsman with a head hite beamer…with every one standing with in 2ft of the bat you were almost certain there would be a catch but oh wait barry stroud. To be honest I cant even discribe how bad a drop it was there are no words coming to my head to explain it but all I can say was alan was celebrating and the umpire had his finger up. They were finally all out for about 150 with tony their captain top scoring with 95.But the remarkable event with barry didn’t shadow what a great performance it was all in all we took 9 catches and only dropped one I hope I will play in many more great games like this
