Sonning are new to the indoor league this season and some of the players were completely new to the game of indoor cricket and others new to the rules played in the Berkshire Indoor League. However, with some of their first team players in their side they were going to be a tough proposition.

Again we bowled first and fortunately this time bowled a lot better, Mo in particular proved to be hard to get away and he and Arsalan both picked up early wickets. With three wickets down quickly a period of consolidation was called for and Schumake and Thorpe both played well as they rebuilt the innings. As the innings neared its end they were able to accelerate and made it to three figures in the final over to give their bowlers something to work with. Whilst there was a general improvement in the T&T performance in the field in the second game one thing that remained constant was Rags’ inability to catch any chance that wasn’t a no-ball; however, as most of the chances he dropped were off his own bowling no-one else was too upset.

Rags and Ian opened the innings again and got us off to a good start with no early wickets lost and us above the required rate. They both retired having made 25 and the formalities of closing out the victory were left to Spike and Fingers. It remains to be seen if as we suspect we may have been a touch lucky to catch Sonning in their first match while they are still learning the game.

With Sonning beating Falkland in the final game of the evening we all took 10 points away from the evening; with us being the team to have lost the fewest wickets it means that for one week at least we sit at the top of the league (I’ll say it now in case I don’t get the chance again).
